About Omniphi
Systems
The Personnel
Although Omniphi Systems itself was only incorporated in
2006, the business has been providing computer systems to
service based businesses since 1996.
The company is owned by Adam Dewbery and Nick Perris who
are both actively involved in analysing clients' needs, producing
required software and providing support to users.
Adam Dewbery graduated from Cambridge University in 2006
with a degree in Computer Science and has been actively involved
in developing software for several years.
Nick Perris has a degree in Mathematics from Bristol University
and became a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in 1988.
Nick also runs a financial services company employing 12 staff
and hence is able to look at a client's problems from a perspective
similar to their own.
The Omniphi Philosophy
Software development involves getting to know the business
involved, understanding why a computer system is needed and
what it would be used for in practice.
Computer systems written by a programmer who does not understand
the underlying business requirement will often not meet the
client's actual needs. Similarly, a specification requested
by a client is unlikely to be tailored toward a simple IT
solution. As a direct result of this we do not regard the
development process as 'you tell us what to do and we will
program it'.
Computer analysis often strays into management or administration
consultancy. If we ask "Why have you proposed to do it
that way?" or "Have you considered this?",
we are not being awkward but are trying to streamline the
overall process so that the best solution may be obtained
for both the client and the eventual programmer.
Once we fully understand the business, we may then also be
able to suggest additional features for the proposed system
that may not have previously been considered.
